Bedford Police

by Chief Todd Foreman

The Town of Bedford Police Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life by creating a safe environment in partnership with the diverse community we serve. We act with integrity to reduce fear and crime while treating all with respect, compassion and fairness to build trust. This is the mission statement of the Bedford Police Department. We strive to build trust by working in partnership with our diverse community.   The Bedford Police Department is dedicated to working with the children and teens of our community and providing them with a safe environment to grow and reach their dreams.

The Bedford Police Department wants to provide many ways to interact with the children and teens of our community. Bedford’s Cop Camp is one of the biggest activities in which we partner with the Bedford County Sherriff’s Office. This is a free week for children ages 9 to 14 to come and spend a week with officers and deputies. During this week they learn about the equipment police officers use, dangers of explosives, K9 officers and enjoy many other fun activities. 2015’s session of cop camp boasted 275 registrants. During this week relationships are built so children and teens see the officers as people who are approachable and no longer the “scary person” in a uniform.

The Bedford Police Department partners with all members of the community to build relationships with our community’s children.
